The AUTHOR

I.V. MARIE was born to a Peruvian mother and Chilean father in Miami, where she acquired a penchant for afternoon cafecitos and an all-consuming obsession with books. Her writing ambitions began behind her grandparents’ computer, where she spent her childhood crafting spooky and fantastical short stories. She is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Souls of Blackwood Academy series: Immortal Consequences; its sequel, Ruinous Ends; and the novella Twisted Vows. Her recently announced book, Cursed and Crowned, will be available in the US & UK Summer 2027 and is part of a new YA Fantasy Duology.

Why I started writing?

It’s hard to really describe the why.

Story, books, reading and writing have always felt so integral to who I am as a person. It’s like trying to pinpoint why I started breathing (just kidding).

But I do think I always just found a great sense of comfort and joy in books, especially fantasy, and after a while it became clear that I had my own stories, worlds and characters begging to break through and appear on the page.

Fun Facts:  I studied music/songwriting at a music conservatory in Boston before pursuing writing. I was a certified Fan Girl my whole life, writing fanfiction as early as 11.
